The Early Years program is for students beginning their Foundation year and moving into year 1 of their schooling. Predominantly for children aged between 5 and 7.
In this section of our school we ensure that each child's priority needs are the starting point to their education, which we meet through Individual Education Plans. All students begin learning lifelong skills to equip them to become valued members of their community.
The Early Years program comprises planned activities that promote learning, personal growth and independence as well as developing interpersonal skills, such as team work, turn-taking and sharing. Students begin to learn the importance of taking care of themselves and their belongings by unpacking and packing their own bags each day, putting away their belongings and being more aware of personal hygiene and safety. Students enjoy numerous specialist classes such as Art, Physical Education, Music, STEM, Global Citizenship and Food and Nutrition. These specialist classes take place in addition to their routine classes such as English and Mathematics.
The Early Years students at Rosamond School have their own vast range of facilities and equipment. These include their own playground with built-in sand pit and climbing frame, a range of bikes, balls and wet play items as well as a large selection of indoor play choices. Our students learn how to safely use a range of technology, including computers, iPads, Smart Boards and gaming consoles. Our students also have their own appropriately-sized toileting facilities, as well as desks and chairs.
