Primary Program
The Primary section of Rosamond School is for students aged from 5 to 12 years. The curriculum program focuses on developing student skills with real learning always at the forefront. English (Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing), Mathematics, and Personal and Social Capabilities form the major components of their program. All students have Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) that are set at the start of the school year, in conjunction with parents, which promote their individual development in each of these areas. Student voice is encouraged as a part of this process.
In addition to Literacy and Numeracy, students are explicitly taught skills in play, feelings, conflict resolution, managing social relationships, turn-taking, and sharing.
Classroom learning is based on Student ILP goals and relevant and engaging units of inquiry, promoting broader interests and creating opportunities for students to further develop their knowledge.
Our students attend Specialist programs within the school (Art, Physical Education, Music, STEM, Global Citizenship, Performing Arts, and Food) as well as a selection of other opportunities, such as Swimming, Victoria University Adapted Physical Education Multi-Sport Program, and Canine Comprehension. Each week concludes with an Assembly, which enables all Primary students to meet and celebrate their learning and achievements.
Foundation Program
The foundation program is provided for students between five and seven years old.
We ensure that each child's priority needs are the starting point for their education, which we meet through Individual Learning Plans. All students begin learning lifelong skills to equip them to become valued community members.
The Early Years program comprises planned activities that promote learning, personal growth, and independence as well as developing interpersonal skills, such as teamwork, turn-taking, and sharing. Students begin to learn the importance of taking care of themselves and their belongings by unpacking and packing their own bags each day, putting away their belongings and being more aware of personal hygiene and safety. Students enjoy numerous specialist classes such as Art, Physical Education, STEM, and Global Citizenship. Performing Arts and Food. These specialist classes take place in addition to their routine courses, such as English, Mathematics, and Personal and Social Capabilities.
The Foundation students at Rosamond School have a vast range of facilities and equipment. These include their own playground with a built-in sand pit and climbing frame, a range of bikes, balls, and wet play items, as well as a large selection of indoor play choices.
