The Primary section of Rosamond School is for students aged from 7 to 12 years.
The curriculum program focuses on developing student skills with real learning always in the forefront. English (Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing), Mathematics and Personal and Social Capabilities form the major components of their program. All students have Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that are set at the start of the school year, in conjunction with parents, which promote their individual development in each of these areas. Student voice is encouraged as a part of this process.
In addition to Literacy and Numeracy, students are explicitly taught skills in play, feelings, conflict resolution, managing social relationships, turn-taking and sharing.
Classroom learning is based on Student IEP goals and Units of Inquiry that are relevant and engaging, promoting broader interests and creating opportunities for students to further develop their knowledge.
Our students attend Specialist programs within the school (Art, Physical Education, Music, STEM, Global Citizenship and Food and Nutrition) as well as a selection of other opportunities such as Swimming, Victoria University Adapted Physical Education Multi-Sport Program, and Canine Comprehension. Each week concludes with an Assembly which enables all Primary students to meet and celebrate their learnings and achievements.
